Trendiest of Brands at Lido Mall - Bangalore Malls
The mall has come up where the old Lido Theatre once stood and today there are two parts to it.
Stand facing the mall and you have the shopping complex on your right hand side and the Fame Lido multiplex on your left.
What you get - If you are looking for trendy women's wear, Lido Mall is a good place to visit.
Especially if you are into western wear and love the latest brands in town.
That doesn't mean you do not get clothes for men here but overall, when it comes to options in clothing and accessories, the balance tilts towards women.
Be warned that most of the stuff here is expensive though.
The ground floor has a junk jewelry shop easily given the miss.
On the first floor, you will find UK brands like Next and The Body Shop.
Next is a good bet if you are thinking of picking up special occasion clothes for children (prices start Rs.
500 and above, so it's got to be special!) and their collection of men's T-shirts and shirts is good too.
Guess, another high fashion brand next to this store, has teeny weeny clothes and over-sized bags for women, as well as men's wear.
Opposite is The Body Shop, where you can sometimes chance upon discount offers like we did did and get 20 per cent off on your favorite shampoo or shower gel.
There is also a store called Accessorize which specializes in what else, but, accessories of all kinds, like hair bands, clips, bangles, earrings, bags, belts, shoes, scarves etc.
The price tag is hefty and the products don't quite match up to it.
One cool store to check out here is 109 Fahrenheit which mainly stocks party wear for both men and women.
We also checked out Marks & Spencer right opposite.
You may end up paying approximately Rs.
1,800 for a pair of trousers here but you will be assured of the long lasting quality, cut and finish.
A good bet if you are looking for smart formal work clothes for both men and women.
This floor also houses two shoe stores, Lee Cooper and Revolutions.
Walk a floor up and you will find Scullers (shut when we visited), Lilliput, the clothing brand for children, AND by Mumbai designer Anita Dongre and Pantaloons.
In fact, the latter almost takes up the entire floor and also houses the washrooms.
Though the Pantaloons store is very well stocked and has both Indian and Western wear for men, women and children, we found it a bit haphazardly maintained with toys and bags strewn around some areas.
AND has a pretty collection of Western and Indo-Western wear, though we wish the variety in colors and designs had been a bit more.
If you are hungry after all that shopping, take your pick between a well laid out Café Coffee Day at the entrance to the mall or Spaghetti Kitchen, Noodle Bar or the food court at Fame Cinema opposite.
Our verdict - Like we said, this is a good bet to pick women's party wear or western formals, especially if you are shopping in the MG Road area.
The lack of crowds also adds to the appeal.
Good place to catch a movie, grab a bite and shop a bit.
Parking space is available.
